Ahku means ”grandmother, old woman, old woman from Lapland” in dialects from the Peräpohjola area. In Sami, Akku means grandmother, the spouse of Ukko. Ahku and aahku (in various Finnish dialects) mean “enthusiasm, passion, strong desire: enthusiastic, diligent, ambitious or glowing embers”.
